Trainings on the use of MRV information system organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection with UNDP support, continued under the project “Establishing a Transparency Framework for Serbia”.
Development of comprehensive MRV system supports improvements in reporting on policies and measures in the field of climate change, contributing to enhanced transparency and enabling better and timely exchange of climate related data and information while further strengthening the interinstitutional cooperation between all relevant institutions at national and local level.
Up to 40 representatives of relevant ministries, agencies and institutes attended the 2-day trainings and had the opportunity to get detailed information on key outcomes of the Conference of Parties under the UNFCCC (CoP26) organized in Glasgow. Moreover, the Information system for Public Policies was presented, as well as modules of the new MRV – information system and its further improvement and linkages with with other complementary IT systems were discussed.
In addition to the exchange of information, the participants had the opportunity to work in a developed information system that will be available for use to all relevant institutions from 2022.
The establishment of a functional MRV system contributes to the implementation of the Law on Climate Change, to more efficient exchange of climate related data and information, greater transparency and further improvement of inter-institutional cooperation.
Trainings will be continued in 2022, for all institutions at the national and local level that are involved in data collection and / or reporting in the field of climate change.
