Green Cities Transformation: Smart, Sustainable and Low-carbon Urban Solutions in Triangular Metropolitan Area (GEF8)

The project “Green Transformation of Cities – Smart, Sustainable and Low-Carbon Urban Solutions – GEF 8” aims to contribute to the preparation and development of sustainable urban solutions to be implemented across the area encompassing the cities of Zrenjanin, Novi Sad, and Belgrade.

The project will support pilot solutions and business models that will contribute to the green and digital transformation of the three cities, while promoting sustainable urban development based on the preservation of natural capital and biodiversity, the promotion of multi-sector cooperation and energy efficiency through circular business models, and integrated intra-city and inter-city spatial planning. 

Innovative solutions aligned with local needs will be based on a polycentric approach and will be expandable to other cities in Serbia as well. The sustainable city concept will engage citizens, civil society organizations, research institutions, the private and public sectors, as well as local governments through a platform that will enable the transparent identification of urban challenges and the mapping of participatory solutions.
