Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the UN Development Program, in cooperation with selected local civil society organizations, will hold three regional workshops throughout Serbia, dedicated to climate change. The workshops will be implemented within the project “Support to the Republic of Serbia in the preparation of the Second National Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change”.
First workshop will be held in the City of Nis on 29 May, followed by a workshop on Tara Mountain 17 and 18 June, and workshop in Bor on 26 June 2915.
The workshops will bring together representatives of relevant institutions, local and regional self-government, business sector and civil society organizations.
The workshops will serve to present basic information on the issue of climate change including national emission levels, mitigation measures in key sectors (such as energy, waste management), climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation in different sectorial areas (such as agriculture, water management, forestry, etc.). Discussions will be held on progress in the development of climate change policies at the national and international levels, and about impacts of climate change on the overall economic development. As part of the workshop, preliminary results of the national reports under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will be presented.
