The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the Directorate General for Climate Action of the European Commission are organising a High Level Conference to be held in the context of the actions the EU and Serbia are taking in the run up to the Paris Climate Summit of December 2015. The ongoing international climate negotiations are shaping the form of this Agreement which is to set the framework for the action of international community in the coming decades. This agreement will not be something isolated, but will put all sectors of our economies on a long term decarbonisation pathway to limit the global temperature increase to stay below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, consistent with the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This major goal requires major action from all countries, which should be communicated to the international community in the form of a pledge, called intended nationally determined contribution.
High level segment of the Conference will include addresses of HL officials, among others, Serbia’s Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and Vice-president of EU Energy Union. In the afternoon sessions, Serbia and the EU actions towards building a more climate resilient societies, including expectations for the Paris Conference of Parties 21 and the long- term prospects towards decarbonisation will be discussed with the invitees.
Panel discussion will be organized during the Conference, which will discuss and elaborate on the next steps by Serbia and the EU internationally, as well as how to further strengthen cooperation between Serbia and the EU on climate action.
