Biography

Mr. Matija Vajdić works as a Head of International Programmes at the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar (EIHP) where he works on various strategic energy projects mostly related to energy efficiency and renewable energy systems. For nearly two years he worked as a Project Manager at the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Central Europe Programme in Vienna where he assessed, evaluated and monitored EU funded projects focused on sustainable and innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy. Before that he already worked for five years for EIHP as a senior researcher and before that for five years at the United Nations Development Programme on a GEF funded project “Removing Barriers to Energy Efficiency in Croatia”. During his career, he has consulted clients ranging from ministries, governmental institutions and agencies, international development organizations, international and commercial financial institutions and funds. He has thirteen years of experience working and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on energy data analysis, energy auditing, technical assessments of EE and RES projects and feasibility studies. He holds a master’s degree in Power Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and an MBA in Energy Economics from the Faculty of Economics. His native languages are Croatian and Slovenian; he also speaks English and understands German and Russian.
